ok i just fired it back up and started running down long tunnel and almost immediately tifa was like thanks for helping me out back there and cloud was like no problem, you’re actually pretty light, and tifa was like you always know just what to say

it looks like materia requires if not training to use now than special gear. of you hit some of the soldiers in the first part they go “he can use MAGIC!?”
Yeah Cloud has a line which implies materia is something cops and SOLDIERS use, but I dont know how it gets in the hands of regular citizens. Weaponsmiths are making gear to use them, so it must be out there…
I was surprised to see so many armed people in general.

someone on tumblr last night posted a scan of a fanart page from a japanese magazine circa 1997. that page contained this piece of art:
seeing it dredged up decades-old memories of seeing it posted around on ancient fora and geocities sites and the like, sometimes with the lie that it was an official poster for the ffvii anime that had just come out in japan. it was cool to finally discover the actual source of it, though.
