Dang that games-as-a-service model has really spoiled these kids they just think these updates drop from the sky like mana from heaven don’t they.
aw dang i thought this was about the second episode of the remake, it’s just the second episode of a documentary series about the first one
whoa was i really the last one to post itt? anyway i finally played the demo and i liked it ok. i didn’t have the energy to fiddle with trying to get japanese audio to work and i gotta say. the voice actor for barret did not grow on me at all over the course of this demo lol. ill leave it at that i guess.
in terms of the battle system, i liked it more than ffxv but still have a really hard time with it. it seems like taking a certain amount of damage is just inevitable? it’s weird for me to accept this in a non turn based system. but if it was a regular ff game of course i would expect to get smacked around every turn. i didn’t really find it that difficult, but i had to use potions way more than i was expecting. then again i didn’t run out so idk…?
am i the only person who would be more interested in this if it didn’t entirely take place in midgar? it just seems like it’s going to get dreary after awhile. the very fun and memorable thing to me about ff7 is the way it begins with this really labyrinthine and claustrophobic midgar act that feels like it goes on just a little bit longer than you think is appropriate (but, in reality, only a couple hours?) and then the game just opens up and becomes really lush and wild and pretty. well pretty by primitive ps1 standards i guess. im just afraid they are never going to finish the remake
Yep VII immediately bursts out from the concentrated overarc that Midgar provides, so how they follow up and approach an adventurous scale like overworld traversal, hitting dozens of dots on the map integral through optional…that’s gonna be the real creative juggle. Right now is easier mode iconic cruise and padding
Maybe the answer is a souped up version of XV’s, which I guess kinda works if you have a ton of separate maps. From seeing the sun outside Midgar to the City of Ancients (end of disc1) that’s very conservatively at least 3-4x times more areas and characters, enemies? soooo
This leaked apparently, so if anyone knows what the endpoint of the story is in this release, it’d be much appreciated.
what a fucking bizarre experience this is going to be
most of my pals ordered this from shopto and have it already
will relay any particularly interesting takes i hear
Man this is some Kingdom Hearts looking stuff and that is OK with me.
Nomura still just all about how weird male friendship is.
This is going to be fascinating
So… this has sequences beyond Midgar, apparently?
I just hope it’s a little better paced than that demo
constant awooga, sloppy random encounters, and a still sloppy but arbitrarily difficult boss actually took me down a notch
realistically they should probably do up through the Kain village flashback before end of part 1, yeah? that way it’s propulsive without being too broad, they can get away with not doing a world map yet, and it’s right before you could theoretically get Yuffie.
i’m half expecting the conclusion of this to be some kind of massive departure but yeah putting the flashback at the beginning of part 2 doesn’t seem right
it’s gonna be a right fuckin’ pain staying spoiler free when every fucker i know has it
I’m wondering if/kinda hoping that/fearing that this might follow the Evangelion rebuilds in its adaptation style. 1 mostly follows the original with a few additions and departures. 2 mixes things up quite a bit more. 3 goes somewhere wildly new.
Mark my words, in one year one kid will tweet « Hey y’all I tried to play the ORIGINAL FF7 and it looks/sounds/plays even worse than you’d imagine. There’s no momentum, no stakes. Why should I care about these legos » TheAngryGamer will post a thirty tweet long angry thread in response that will be as applauded as it will be ridiculed. And the gamer generation war will begin
they could have everyone go to sleep at the Inn and cold open the dream sequence I guess, that’s tried and true
