Fading Brakelight Obscurity III - Green-Orange-Checkered Edizione (Part 3)

Turns out the Discord link is fine. I was just in a weird state of being logged in/out at the same time in Discord in my browser. Anyway, it seems they are still working on the mod!

Val…halla? :smirk:

I love all the weird characters you find when you take your car questions to youtube. This guy looks like I’m gonna regret clicking but has a pretty disarming intro:

Car YouTube is great at faking you out, the contrast between the thumbnails and the actual tone can really give you whiplash

Me when I literally dust off the PS5 to get Death Stranding 2 and spend too much time browsing PSN.

meanwhile,

seems like Racer Magazine also covers WRC in more detail now, not sure what’s up w/ that Racer+ App thing, maybe it is the same as Motorsport.com did, so beware/ymmv

also, third weekend-in-a-row-24h race tomorrow,

in case s.o. cares about GT3 machinery, because it will be GT3 excusively. Still on the road this weekend, gotta keep the foot in :officersonic:

speaking of ‘this weekend’:

since i was passing by ze Nordschleife, I tried to do a tourist-lap, but it was closed for some private test(s), you could hear s.o. going by the final straight (where you enter the circuit) at full chat.

At least met two nice drivers of Alpines:

and both full of praise for their wheels :servbotsalute:

I found out about this obscure Alfa Remoe 1600 GT engine (1.6L) that uses a pair of hydraulically driven superchargers run off the engine oil supply. It apparently made 240hp in 1966. A pretty mean feat for a 4 cylinder. This is the only instance I know of of a hydraulically driven supercharger.

This is the tiny car it goes in

One of the ladies that I work with is currently on summer holiday at their family chalet in the Swiss mountains where her husband stores and maintains his 60s GTV. I am currently in the early stages of embarking on a multi-year charm offensive to one day be invited.

I missed an opportunity recently when her husband was here to speak at an office party. I feel like this secret info on the failed GTA-SA forced induction engines would have won me some points.
