I’m mostly sharing this because of the cars

so, finally, Project Cars 2 is out this friday.
I cannot tell you how much I am loking forward to this game by now. I will have a prospective endurance racing buddy over to celebrate this and dabble around a bit to see how it differs to version number 1.

Also, this time, I’m planning to do the career mode as well. Toyota GT-One TS020 looks mighty and tempting, and it will have been … god, maybe seven years already? - since I last had a shot driving this monster. TS050 would be a nice companing to bench this against, but at least we are getting any Toyotas at all.

Also looking forward to bench the new tracks, Indycars and how road cars compare to race cars.

Now, only have to find out which version I actually want. Limited seems to be it, since I want those Hondas…

anyone else getting this?

I was so ready for PCARS 2 but all reports I got is performance is an absolute disaster across all platforms unless you have a top level i5/i7, 16mb RAM and GTX 1060 upwards, the game has some hardcore bugs and Livetrack 3.0 is only enabled on some tracks. And I suppose that’s a momentum killer for me considering how bad it was on PC and I’m here with this piddly AMD FX-8350. I think waiting till the collected edition for all the DLC is an option I’ll exercise and let the game get into shape first.

I played Forza 7 demo as well and it’s kinda weird. The new weather systems are neat and the tyres have a lot more bite to them so the physics are well improved but it’s strange. The Porsche they give you for the big “Showcase” is really different than the cars they have you start off in normally because it’s a handful. It plows in tight into turns and goes loosey goosey on exit. It’s actually pretty difficult to drive. The GT-R showcase in the weather was rather neat though. They made the aquaplaning a lot more subtle and the rain is very well done (Really dig the virga in the distance) though this was the plain xbone version so the LOD was kinda uggo. Still rather nice though the PC and X1X versions really will be the way to play that game.

though line up-wise, Forza 7 seems to be the game you want, they even got their Hands on the Nissan GT-R LMP…
my upcoming PC build is currently stalled, until the new batch of Ryzen CPUs arrives that doesn’t have that Op cache issue. And the VEGA custom designs aren’t exactly out, as in ‘not existing until october, at best’, so i’ll be going with the ps4 Version of PC2 for now…

I’m not sure how many I need. I dropped PCARS 2 and I’m hemming and hawing over Forza. I bought NASCAR Heat 2 recently and It’s a real pleasant surprise. It’s not winning hearts and minds in the visuals department, but the AI is probably the best I’ve ever seen. It runs grooves, tries to create new grooves, blocks in a safe manner, knows when you are trying to bump draft and responds, will give you a shove if you set them up for one. Races you clean if you race them clean and races you aggressive if you race them aggressive. It’s one of the quietly impressive moments I had in a game in the year. I had an AI truck completely overdrive trying to clear me in the corner, tag the wall and spin out for the caution. It could maybe be a little more user friendly and I know there’s a lot of demand for a “Hardcore” setting on AI, Damage and Flags. But it’s a unique little wonder in how enjoyable it is and how you can apply real strategy with the stage races.

so far, lots of setup work done. Button mappings, cam settings, sound settings… we’ve tested the AMG GT3 Merc on Monza, before we couldn’t help ourselves and started testing the new stuff:

Hockenheimring Classic, with a Lotus SomethingSomething, then the Formula Renault SomethingSomething, and finally the F1-esque model. Since then, we’ve switched to Long Beach and have been racing and benching the Honda and Chevy Indycars against our respective laptimes, and it’s so. damn. good. to be able to race on those racetracks you’ve seen being raced on TV for hours and hours.
COTA, watch out…

so, another point to cross of my (virtual) bucket list:

check

… that aside, the game, or rather the machinery, unsurprisingly,

looks good

and yes, it’s a car porn game

so …
tl;dr-version can only be as follows:

Verdict: guilty

Whoops, gotta add some more pixxx here, since PC2 just looks. so. good.

otoh, quite a lot of those screenshots are debugging material to maybe help those guys at SMS to fix the FFB issue that befalls a number of FH cars, on COTA at least.

Well, if PC2 needs a few fixes before it is fully usable, i could play some other games in the mean time, right?

Well, no.

Of course I suddenly decided to jump the shark and get FM7, a X1S with Horizon3+HotWheels Pack like my brothers did, to basically have a big, giant Forza Motorsport Sponsored farewell-party, even though I was quite content to have abandoned the More-than-1-console-per-gen thing after the x360.
Oh well.
At least I can play Nights on this as well!

16mb RAM?

It’s that time again

Also, has anyone used wheels with PCSX2? How well do they work?

maybe you can help a fellow XBONE S’er with this:
how on earth do you get pixx off of the bone box and onto a usb Stick… or is that network/website retrieval only?

I believe you can do both though I haven’t used the USB method, but generally I use Xboxdvr.com for screenshot function caps as long as your profile is public (enter your gamertag and you can grab your shot). Though with Forza (7 and Horizon 3). Select “Save and Share” on the photo then log into ForzaMotorsport.net with the Xbox account you used, go to the top bar, hover over community and pick “Gallery”. Your photos should appear there. I convert to Imgur for sharing as it saves as Jfif or some weird format normally. Here’s one I brought out of my gallery.
