Totally how I bought all my ngpc games from Hastings in San Marcos, Texas.
Itâs so frustrating that the reason these were packaged like this is because someone bought a warehouse with all the remaining inventory of SNK USA, ripped open all of these sealed games, and repackaged them in the blisterpacks cart only.
I used to sell those blister packs at gamestop theyâre definitely like the complete 100 percent opposite of dope box art
we should make a thread for worst box art but it canât be official game box art, only shit like this or those sleeves game stores would use when a game doesnât have a cover
Ah just put it in here, after all the OP covers
I dunno itâs not really hilariously bad like itâs like a generic can of beans
Threadâs reminding me that I built my entire Game Boy library from buying used games in generic packaging from a Fred Meyer (Kroger) electronics section in 1999. Presumably these were packaged by some other company and not Kroger. Those were not cool or âaesthetic.â Spent some time looking on the internet for it today with no luck. Why should I have found them? Literally disposable, and I think long forgotten.
FAKE EDIT:
Found this on ebay, and this was apparently the EB-specific version of this. I think mine were more in bags, though, with the game secured to a piece of cardstock that could be hung on a wall. There were walls of these.
Is this interesting? Is this the right thread for this? Probably not!
this was exactly the one I was thinking of
These are fantastic ^ _^
i remember seeing ngpc consoles sold in those blisters with 6 games included too. later regretted not getting one.
in the uk we just say âgubezzâ
The artist was tracked down a few months ago. He got in touch with a youtuber who was asking around for his identity. His name is Sam Bohon.
The characters were drawn individually, and Bohon didnât make the compositions. According to the video maker, Bohon did indeed work on the RCREX cover.
Whateverâs going on with this dudeâs face has been bothering me for years
Dang, that unlocked memories.
I do wonder the rationale for this. I guess they wanted to have the used games on the shelf so they still looked like a normal product to buy? Feel like it would make theft more likely, but I wouldnât be surprised if EB/GS was using some kind of insurance loophole with stolen property for a few years to keep in the black.
I remember when a local game store here had a copy of BlowOut for PS2 in a blank DVD case that some employee drew a very sad stick figure standing next to a car with a flat tire on. It was dope, and I should have bought it!
Definitely more attractive than the just the big bin full of loose carts, especially if youâre a boomer bringing their kid to the video game store in the late 90s and youâre already out of your element.
I have no real desire to play Wanted:Dead at all, but I saw a physical copy out in the wild (thought it was digital only) and I was like damn this boxart is kinda dope no lie.
Is the big orange cat a⌠weapon?
If so âLet this pussy be your weaponâ would have been a suitable throwback tagline, shame they didnât use it, guess Iâll have to
