japanese gba boxes rocked for being landscape format, a very interesting design shift from the portrait (or square) paradigm of almost everything before / after
The game’s cover features three nude women and a male waiter in a hot tub. The hot tub is actually that of Sierra’s owners, Ken and Roberta Williams. From left to right, the first woman was the company’s bookkeeper at On-Line Systems. The second is the wife of Bob Davis, the creator of another Sierra title, Ulysses and the Golden Fleece. The waiter was an actual waiter from a local restaurant, The Broken Bit. The woman on the far right is Roberta Williams.
On-Line Systems became Sierra Online in 1982.
The story goes–I think this was from an interview I listened to with someone who worked with or for Sierra On-Line back in the day, probably either in an episode of The Ted Dabney Experience Podcast, or the Time Warp podcast–that that waiter was chosen because he was gay and thus not likely to get ideas in the tub.
