most of your other party members have at least one attack that functionally ignores defense at that point, but I also had the tendo fight glitch out on me and he just stopped attacking halfway through, which I appreciated, since the kiryu and majima fights were enough of a wiegraf-style hard check for my tastes after which nothing else really registered
I agree that the battle/gear system was pretty atrocious and kept the game from being more of a classic, it’s amazing that it’s still as good as it is
the funniest thing about these games for me is how things like “wish fulfillment” and “escapism” which are normally touted as strengths of the medium but which almost never occur to me otherwise are all over this one – you get to eat $20 worth of fast food, ordering everything on the menu, then you get in a fight over a scam modem contract and beat up the ISP employees, then you responsibly have to eat another $20 worth of fast food
Nagoshi directed the original Monkey Ball games and Yakuza hence they should ALSO add in other characters from his games like Captain Falcon from F Zero GX and the entire cast of Planet Harriers
yeah the dungeons are awful and that’s the biggest one. I almost put the game down around then between that and the implication that you’re supposed to keep playing the property game after getting eri. you can just ignore that stuff though.
I think the recent Persona games basically made the sewer dungeon feel surprisingly breezy when I played it. I was like “yes this will make it much more satisfying when I get to hang out with my Social Links again”
The property game is hilariously easy to remove any money problems with very early on. Like I get 3 million yen for like five minutes of playing it now. It was relatively easy to minmax it to the top rank in a few hours, and kinda fun. Now I just use it as my cash machine whenever I am running a bit low.
also i think it is necessary for S Ranking one of the social links? I could be wrong there.
Anyone played Lost Judgment yet? Kinda curious cos school seems like a cool sidequest series but whenever I watch it I remember how much I dislike about Judgment’s tailing, chasing, and generally lacklustre supporting cast.
The Management Game took a whole week of my game playing to finish and was mostly not happy about it (outside of it being spotify time.)
Know I’ve told you elsewhere but since I just re-read this thread the cast of 6 was not going to stick around because most of them were IRL celebrities down to one of them getting caught accepting Yakuza bribes immediately after the Judge Eyes guy got arrested for coke. They didn’t remove him though.
At the beginning of Chapter 14 after that week of grinding. What I’ve found is the cook’s peppercorn attack (which is cross class) has the best damage/cost ratio of anything. Against the Chapter 13 boss it was dealling a 1000 damage. I switch classes around a lot (for the stat bonuses) which means my characters are a master of none. Going to do a bit more grinding tomorrow before I see where the story goes.
And if you got an electric special move almost every tough thing is weak to it. I got annoyed that all the Fire Moves are useless in boss fights, and are too finnicky in normal fights.
Also all the girls you can date are real humans and real gravure idols/hostesses. Eri was the only one with a thicker resume that I could see but obviously had higher rates even from winning a contest.
Also you saw how much they didn’t use the main cast didn’f need to throw yet another to wordlessly stand there. Does Zhao say…anything in the last 3 chapters? Or really anything as soon as he’s in your party? Joon has a bit more to do than Adachi.
But really shocked how much they throw away the party for some political intrigue that I zoned out of it each time.
