DO U WANNA LIKE MY DRAGON?

All the subquests near the Onomichi cemetery are deep cuts into the developer’s favorite movies.

I’ve been pumping thru number 6 since it came out last week, I’m well versed in the series by now. It’s still dead fun, even if I can’t find any bowling or pool and the fighting is a little weird now.

However, I never see many comments on the depiction of cis and trans women in these games. Women are emotional, frail, objects. Trans women are lusty and have deep, deep, voices. All the laziest tropes. I cringed like shit during the web chat thing. As for men, is this some meta commentary about Japanese society and how awful its toxic masculinity can be? There are so many screamingly insecure dudes it’s bizarre. This is very cluttered and should be justified with a proper analysis but I needed to blurt. Gaagh!

Tbh, it’s whole target audience in Japan is “men are men, women are women”, so…

I mean, I’m not saying it’s immune to criticism. But it has been an insanely sexist series by Western standards since Day 1.

Oh yeah, it is what it is. But I’m surprised its issues haven’t been highlighted in a society which is becoming more aware of such things.

also worth noting that all hostesses are real life porn actresses

Yo if anyone wants a coupon for 50% off Yak0 hit me up have fun: 2GK25DG352

We’ve been in kind of a dry spell for new games for a while, so I picked up 6 on a whim. The overdramatic baby-formula preparation at the beginning got a big laugh. I’m a little confused by the leveling process, though. I figured out that I’m earning five different kinds of XP which is then consumed to boost stats and unlock moves, and the help text made a real big deal about how important it is to boost stats first rather than spend XP on other stuff, but I don’t even know how I’d look up what the five different XP currencies are…? It’s fun to flail with an unfamiliar system.

Is there some way to redo Troublr jobs? It bums me out that my attempt to help a sick person in Onomichi was foiled because I accidentally initiated the climax of Life Is Strange - Hiroshima Edition on the same footbridge. I swear, Kiryu can’t stop a single purse snatcher in this town without running into an old acquaintance in the middle of his chase.

I blew one Troublr and it popped up a few hours later so I wouldn’t sweat it.

I still haven’t run into this Cheers stuff and I’m eagerly anticipating it.

I’m also gonna be super disappointed if this game doesn’t have a fantasy baseball minigame.

I think that’s in, yeah. Haven’t checked it out yet 'cause it’s on the far edge of the map.

The cheers stuff is locked out until you do the first baseball sidestory, which also seems to get locked out through the story progression if you missed it before leaving Onomichi the first time.

I only just managed to access both in the final chapter

How significant is kitano’s character in this and does he do a good job? I love that bastard man’s face.

Pretty significant, although he doesn’t necessarily show up a whole lot compared to some of the other characters. He’s not just a quick cameo or anything

I wonder how much of the budget went towards the cast. I mean, jesus fucking christ, you have pretty much some of the biggest stars of Japan in Y6.

Apart from the porn stars, the NJPW crew and darts superstar Paul Lim, who else is in it? I’m not very clued up.

Takeshi Kitano, Shun Oguri, Tatsuya Fujiwara, Hiroyuki Miyasako, Yoko Maki. All very popular actors in Japan.

i’m on the fourth chapter.

Does Onomichi have more to do than restaurants and convenience stores?

There’s a baseball manager sidegame that unlocks in the 4th chapter if you walk down the street your apartment is on during the day.

I somehow didn’t unlock this until like chapter 12.

Oh yeah and spear fishing by the pier.

Onomichi doesn’t even have a convenience store! So to get the bento box for Saigo you have to wait until you go back to Kamurocho.

There’s a surprising amount of stuff hidden away until you do the baseball sides, which is funny because of how unobvious it is to trigger it

thanks guys

the baseball team is called the warriors :- )
