I’ve seen the final shape… it’s… the shape of the recycling bin icon
am enjoying the more playpen character of the new patrol space
12-player finale boss thing was cute

expansion’s good. but i suspect it will only lure back sicko destiny-heads
reupping since halo is so piss poor these days. just miss bungie lore tbh
Unfortunately destiny 2 is in the worst state it’s been maybe ever.
- They soft sunset almost every activity by adding ilvls to gear, but only gear from the new expansion, so the entire ecosystem of doing old content has completely collapsed. There’s ten raids and only one of them gives you something worth using
- They reintroduced legendary shards as “unstable cores” which reset every six months and then almost immediately rolled it back
- They backtracked on crafting. Very little is craftable anymore.
- Nobody I know is playing destiny anymore. I used to run a very active destiny clan! Steam CCU is down to 10k averages
In their quest to turn Destiny 2 into the perfect temporary treadmill, Bungie has managed to alienate literally everyone, even the die hards like me who stuck through some of the worst periods in the game’s history.
Plainly put, their investment/rewards design is worst-in-class. Sandbox and narrative is still killing it, but what’s the point of playing a game that so nakedly disrespects the time you invest in it? Literally every MMO on the planet, even the bad ones, handles this shit better
there’s both too much (loot grinding for loot i can’t keep up with) and too little (no more weekly story episodes i’d always log in for) in the show now, i’m very much waiting for a series of hammers to fall before i dip in again (and fucks alive do i have so many other things to do and play)
i’d have rather they spun final shape out for another year than do what they did instead
bring back destiny 1
Destiny 2 is being put into maintenance mode. They’re also fixing so many problems with the game that would’ve helped turn it around, if they hadn’t waited this long (and for the game to crater) to do it.
- Bringing back cut raid bosses with the Pantheon, which is coming back permanently
- All gear in the game will now drop with 3.0 itemization, instead of just the newest expansion gear
- Director is back after the extremely negative response to the Portal
- SRL (!!!) is back
- Heavy Metal PvP (tanks and such) is back
- Exotic armor can be transmogged into lower tier armor
The only way this could’ve been improved is if they were to announce all cut seasonal and expansion content was coming back too.
honestly this encourages me to pick it up again, now that i know i can buildcraft without fear of obsolescence the very next season
Watch as this surges the CCU and Bungie goes “aw fuck”
“Live service game is better when it’s not a live service” is a lesson publishers keep failing to learn
I’ve never played Destiny, but from a distance it looked like it was Halo guns, Borderlands gear drops, and encounters that were halfway between those two. It had tightly designed difficult raid encounters, but every time they released one of those they remembered how expensive that is, so instead of another one they’d make some ARG bullshit to waste people’s time next time.
Was that it? Did it have anything else that could have grown into the Ur Game that they pitched Destiny as? Did that concept even exist outside of marketing?
Raid dudes will tell you otherwise, but I think your read here is more levelheaded than cynical.
