Sure, I’d do that and end up jinxing myself with the game falling apart in its back half >_>
(I’ll try and leave one after I get a couple more batteries)
Hilariously Xenogen came out today so it seems like all the idiosyncratic platformers I was vaguely keeping tabs on did so within a week of each other.
Don’t worry you can switch your thumbs up to a thumbs down and edit the review content entirely if the game betrays you. I know this because I had a negative review from a very frustrated person who I guess slept on it, calmed down, flipped it to positive and went on to play another 30 hours lol.
Got stuck on an early slime bubble ceiling momentum puzzle stopped playing for a bit, came back, and then looked at it from a different angle, and then cackled when I figure it out.
Game’s cool. Will try to drop a review when I’ve got more than an hour on the clock.
To echo a similar sentiment: This radiates the kind of energy that a version of me circa 2007-2013 would have gotten really pulled into. It’s not just nostalgia bait or anything, but it definitely screams “Cool thing I found on Tigsource I gotta tell everyone about” to me. That’s a positive!
I feel like I’m adjacent kind of person who would get crazy obsessed with this but I don’t quite know how to introduce it to them. I also feel like, especially if you add in the qbit hunting aspects, this game screams “Speedrun” to me, and I’d love those folks to get their hands on it too.
hadn’t put in the requisite five or ten minutes or whatever to get it to pop up. silly me
i guess playing this last year left an even deeper impression on me than i realized, running around the steam version i’m getting shook every time i pass different background details or enter a reskinned area
yeah i changed a lot with the visuals and opened up the middle of the map more to make it more likely people wander into the right places. after watching a lot of tester videos i decided the beginning routes were a little too constrained.
had a player 100% it today and showed me a screenshot of a file with 60 hours put into it. i guess there’s really a lot of game there if you want it lol. none of my testers 100%'d it so i’m glad everything worked! i of course did a run through myself before release but that doesn’t give a good sense of the time commitment.
If it helps I could knock that down to 98% positive for you, try and put things back into balance >_> Congrats on hitting very positive, it’s legit a very cool benchmark to hit!
(If anyone cares I am up to the green key zone and I might have to take a break from it and go poke around elsewhere for a bit, it’s definitely neat but it feels a step more advanced than the other stuff I’ve done so far).
i saw a smaller streamer playing on twitch tonight. i had a mario streamer redeem the code but not play it yet and i know one smaller youtuber is going to play it eventually. most streamers don’t answer their email. probably need to go to their discords or something idk.
I don’t know if it is bad luck or just how it is but dang does this get hard at some point. It is not impossible I am just wandering between tricky sections and past less demanding ones but I’ve been stuck at 75%charge for a good bit now and it really sunk in that it’s gonna take a good bit of work and a touch of luck to get that remaining amount taken care of. Don’t get me wrong it’s still very well designed (out of however many rooms I’ve been to at this point there’s been like one where I went “that’s hard for iffy reasons”), it just ain’t got no problem kicking one’s ass
A sage perspective. I will be sure to remember this, always, but especially in those times I feel like I want to rush my work. Congrats on finishing this thing!!
I say so because on the upper way back I end up floating on the screen above it and hence it’s a bit of a blind drop/”okay let me try to picture at what point the bubble will be when I drop back down” challenge which… IMHO is a bit less elegant than the rest of what I’ve seen so far; it also being the latter part of a multi-room challenge (that I am bad at >_> ) makes failure sting a bit more and hence it “sticks” more in my mind.
Played an hour of this today, really enjoyed it. I love the low-pressure, no danger tone, where the focus is on the exploration and the music compliments this state of mind of being curious rather than fleeing or fighting inward. Particularly enjoyed the jump mechanic where you must twist a little at an angle to get the most moxie out of each pop upwards, that Mario physics stuff feels great.
Also was a fan of how clean and colorful the visuals are, with the background details giving little hints here and there, but also fitting into the aesthetic of the game, so you’re just never really pulled out of the little world this game takes place in. Very subtle and pleasant.
I left a Steam review, will see if I can leave one on the Itch page as well.
