☕ Don't Deal With The Devil ☕

I think it’s just a bug with the boss where some of the forms during the first phase throw a hitbox on the edges (I know it happens with the dragon and the spider). You should casually walk under the last space left anyway tbh.

I think basically all the bosses before dice king do a great job of never becoming too easy once you learn their first and second phases. Theres always a chance youll fuck up. Whereas since the minibosses in dice king kinda have to be a bit easier, it trivialises them kinda? I never take damage on like any of the first 5 anymore, but then yeah the horse one is awful the monkey one is boring as hell and the ballerina one is like extremely hard?? I have to just always hope i can avoid it. Also sometimes with the rabbit it feels like it’s near impossible to get out of that circle if the gap is at an awkward corner angle. I suppose i should use the invisible dash for that. I have the gradual super increase on though cause you always get like a whole attack worth between bosses. I have only gotten to the actual end like three times but it seems like the hitbox is kinda messy for those card jumps?

this just mirrors how a fight with these three creatures would be irl imo strong design good verisimilitude

For the first set of mini-bosses I go with #3 (cigarette) – I can make dumb mistakes with the others and lose the heart I would have gained.

For the second set, I usually choose #4 (dominoes). #5 (rabbit) is easy with smoke dash, or you can save the super for when the gap is at an awkward angle. If the gap is directly below you, I found I could crouch to avoid getting hit, but one time I somehow took a hit anyway.

Last set, #7 (ballerina) is trivial with smoke dash. Otherwise I go with #8 (melon bread) and stay towards one side rather than the middle. It’s too bad about the monkey; at first I thought you were somehow choosing its next attack with the cards (and maybe there would be an ‘instant win’ pair), but it ends up being the most tedious boss in the game so I always make sure to skip it.

Dice King’s card jumps feel iffy to me too, I think you need to parry sooner than you think (and you can parry off the same card more than once if needed). You can also hide out on the edge of the screen next to his hand to avoid the cards entirely, but the direction he chooses seems to be random and I’m not sure you can do much or any damage from that position yourself.

Finished the game. Really liked it, not the best run & gun but I could do with a game like this every single year. Bee boss and King Dice are probably the two lowest points in the game, but still, good stuff.

And I’ve been intrigued by the devil’s “ghost hit” and well, turns out there is a hit/hurt box in the left side of the screen. You can get hit by it when it does the dragon head attack and forces you to the left. And you can hit it back. For sure with charged shots, not sure if you can reach the specific point with other weapon. Quite weird.

And yeah, card parry is wonky.
