yeah I have never ever liked a fire emblem even once and I glanced at the previews they’re running for this one and went “oh!”
Just when there were no longer any Switch-exclusives that interested me, a good non-handheld Fire Emblem game might do it. The GameCube one was excellent, and the Wii one was pretty good as well. I have not played a tactical RPG in a long time.
Good thing this game’s features include fishing and cooking. That should be enough to keep me from becoming tempted.

I was reading the Nintendo page on the new fire emblem and
For the first time in series history, battalions of troops follow individual units to support them in battle
So it’s LANGRISSER???

they got rid of the gross animu stuff, are doing a military academy thing like valk 2 but then it skips ahead to wartime and you see Where They Are Now like starship troopers, they have more cross-class ability customization, they got rid of the rock paper scissors, they added limited rewinds from invisible inc, and they have same sex partnerships now
it sounds like what I would’ve done if they hired me to make fire emblem tbh

I think they might’ve hired someone who actually keeps up with tactics games to design it for the first time in god knows how long

Previews have made it sound even more gross animu though, with raising you students and hooking them up in school and very dating sim, though apparently there is a way to minimize this as well, so idk.
Rock Paper Scissors is definitely still in place though.

there’s still gross anime cuz you can romance the character who looks like a 12 year old

The rewind thing was already in the last Fire Emblem (remake of Gaiden on the 3DS) and it did make the game very breezy and enjoyable
It didn’t have gross animu though and tanked (as a result?)
I’m sure dating minors is back
