It was only good because it was on the playstation. They had to make everything cheap and toylike, gamers had to make it work in their heads, it was awesome. Square-enix and fans have always treated the original’s lack of verisimilitude like an embarrassing mistake. Was it a flaw? I thought it was FF7’s greatest strength.
The colorful pointy character designs suffer a lot from transplanting to soft-serve porcelain. And “hokey thirty-year-old RPG for 90s teens but ~polished~ with a modern AAA rendering engine split into a trilogy” is so tearstained cargo shorts I hate it even if it does take the unlikable edgelord route of retaining the fat jokes, almost-rapes, calling people retards, abusive husbands etc.
RARING to see people get uncomfortable and horny over the Tifa/Scarlet slapfight though. they’re gonna floor the gas on that one. It felt so out of place in the original game, maybe its home is here.

I value your opinion but I can’t understand it! The SD models are the only possible compromise between the technology, the comedy, and the drama. Do they seem bathetic to you? I never felt FF7 demanded more sympathy for its cute characters than they deserved, if you can tolerate angst and anachronism.
Also maybe looking forward to Fort Condor… just to see what they do…

like fan mods that substitute in high quality models invariably look stupid even when there aren’t blatant scale incongruities or whatever
the ff7 remake we need is the one that’s remade with ff8’s visual style and techniques
wondering if like a lifetime from now there will be a new wave of remasters that involve thoughtfully remaking them more or less within the technical limitations of their origin but with the classiest, most thoughtful possible art direction and visual design

I’m in the minority but I enjoyed the original Alien Hominid.
If The Beheomoth make another run and gun, be it an Alien Hominid sequel or not, I’ll be interested.
I won’t be interested in an Alien Hominid game if it isn’t a run and gun though.
