Hopefully keep them out of the voting booths
Y’all remember VRML?
i just hope they’ve invested enough money in it that it takes the whole company down when it flops
Oculus is but a pimple on a boil on the bottom of the accounting books of Facebook, a company that owns nearly half of all internet (read: future) advertising in the non-Chinese world
here’s a thought experiment you don’t want to do: what would happen if facebook or twitter or google failed? they’d get bailed out, wouldn’t they? for security reasons? for forming the backbone of digital culture and business? for god knows what else?
if facebook or twitter begin to fail google will buy them
to put all of the staff to work on messaging apps
massively multiplayer messaging
Google has too many heads for it to fail in the sense of a bank. If the easy ad money dried up they’d fire/spinoff a bunch of engineers, shut down/spin off a bunch of the free services and pivot over to whatever kept making money (if for some reason they couldn’t just buy Microsoft or some supermarket/gas chain)
That Horizon video is unreal.
It’s like uncanny valley shit.
Not the human renders (side note: video seems to highlight how homogenizing and phobic about weight custom character renders tend to be)
But rather the video and the product are in the uncanny valley.
Like this should be the in-world video promoting the over the top, not quite logical virtual reality system that causes the dystopian intrigue that unravels over the course of a mid-tier studio film.
Really hard to imagine Horizon being anything but a bunch of my extended family wandering around looking for brown people to scream Fox News catchphrases at.
I’m learning how increased fidelity makes this so much harder, as animation and combat and cut scene implementers are begging to keep height differences under 6 inches as we up the expectation that blows will connect in specific ways across across differing slope values. Yesterday we met to discuss how bad slopes of 27 degrees would be assuming our current constricted character shape differences. It’s real nasty business.
fidelity is a poison
this just broke my dick
TLoU2 multiplayer is alive but still in development, and could potentially be spun off into its own thing due to an expansion in scope. The dream is back on the board.
I went through an interview cycle for the job of designing the weapon & upgrades
I didn’t get it, so I probably killed the multiplayer
hmm

You’re the only one who could have stopped it from becoming the battle royale game it most assuredly is becoming now.
that would be a good signature
