Back in 2002 we were all asking Jeeves all the time. But how often did any of us actually stop to really listen to Jeeves? Maybe that’s why he left us…

From a practical perspective, purity policing is actually very bad because it doesn’t gain respectability and the noisier a domain is (gender presentation, mental health public presentation) the more it obfuscates and normalizes people with the real heavy caliber shit. The price of survival is getting lost in the simulacra. This is praxis, and I accept it. I still think there is ontology but it’s of questionable value to me as a dead woman.

We are weirdly close to the timeline where Russia and the United States divide Europe up between them under the pretext of defeating antisemitism and deislamification

ā€œWas Temple of Doom prescient and good? Revisiting the original warning against Hindu nationalism in 2024ā€, the greatest troll blog post in the history of Alephwyrposting, brought down after being assassinated transnationally by the Indian government.

Okay, so here’s the basic utterance, in an ugly and half-remembered fashion:

What’s happening in the first half is that we’re inverting the Verb Phrase, moving it left of the Noun Phrase, which then also inverts the Adverb Phrase within the Verb Phrase – we’re doing so basically through poetic license, the change shifts the stress of the phrase and makes it scan better.

This is a great example of how poetry could be viewed as a dialect of a language in a sense because using this sort of construction in a regular utterance would definitely get you strange looks and a decent chance of not being understood as well.

the idiom ā€˜old wine in a new bottle’ as a reference to something old and outdated that has been repackaged and falsely represented as something new has always bothered me because like wine is one of the things that is famous for being better when it is old

I feel like this introduces another unnecessary layer of complexity to the metaphor that doesn’t help the case that it is good though
