ok, point blank who are you playing leading you to this conclusion?
i mean, this is smth i feel deeply with Zarya
or Bastion or Torbjörn or even Hanzo
I dunno where to best talk about it but since Felix brought Titanfall2 up I just want to state how much a prefer the firing spread/recoil models in this game compared to TF2. OW is just more consistent and you know where your bullets are going to go when you fire them so moving and firing feels good. TF2 makes you rely on aim down sights for almost any gun that isnât an SMG or shotgun. For anything else the hip fire is just way to variant and wide to be used organically while running. I try to use the G2 rifle as a midrange sniper but when Iâm on the run the grouping is just terrible for on the fly shots. It just irritates me for some reason.
I do agree with the back to the fight trudge being more annoying. Iâd really like see some new game mode type that actively uses more of the map spaces. Alot of the king of the hill maps feel like empty space until you get to the capture point. Most of the Nepal maps come to mind especially the one with the villages between spawn and capture point. I think the illios maps find a good balance though.
I have a hard time having any strong feelings about Tracer or Zarya cuz they are probably the characters I have the least playtime with. Tracer Iâm just not crazy about being that squishy and only really being able to do damage if I can spill bullets into nogins in arms reach. Iâd rather just be Genji. Zarya I just can not get a rhythm down for. I can just never score a good powerboost on the shields I give to myself or teammates so I never do much damage to build up ult reliably and that ult is key for getting clutch team kills so I feel Iâm robbing my team of that shot.
itâs OK I got a refund because blizzard are apparently really cool that way so I wonât have to complain about your favourite game anymore
I donât know, this felt like a reasonable discussion instead braying jackassery, and thatâs even with me shutting down logical arguments with âbut thatâs not how they made the game!â
we have a thread now?
I had the same feelings about the game at first.
Regarding the spawn timers and room placement, when youâre playing at higher skill-levels, the spawn timing makes some sense â itâs easier to figure out how to get back on tempo, and as you learn the maps better youâll find that having access to multiple routes on your way back to your team leads to interesting tactics. It also leads to intuitive pacing changes per team when one is winning vs losing, eg on defense youâll spawn âcloserâ to the current objective if the attackers have advanced past a point.
With regards to the âlots of circlestrafing and absorbing damageâ, yeah, at low-levels Overwatch is like five year olds playing soccer by clustering around the ball. I was fortunate in that I had some skilled friends (hi dmauro) who added me to their group so iâd get matchmade with better players.
The whole point of those matches is to manage your team so that you donât all die and have to trudge back while the opponent takes the first point. The second point is always closer to the spawn and easier to defend.
this makes sense. but it still feels so damn mushy and I hate the aesthetic â I was playing it in spite of the aesthetic in the first place because everyone recommended it to me â and the overall experience is still more reminiscent of a MOBA that youâre supposed to obsess over macro strategies for than an FPS that I actually want to play.
idk I hate nearly everything thatâs designed for large-C Competitive play so I guess this was a longshot, I just thought Iâd give it a go because I havenât gotten into so many online shooters in years.
a fun sidenote to this story was that when I installed and signed into the battle.net client my one friend (whom I could not identify) was listed as having been offline for âfour yearsâ
The ignominious end of my Diablo 3 dalliance
oh man that was you wasnât it
I guess I only ever had the trial of the PC version before buying on console? that sounds right. I couldnât even think of any modern blizzard stuff Iâd played on PC other than the SC2 trial.
Been thinking about this a lot
what
Pretty sure itâs a parody, but itâs part of a religious objection to Overwatch.
very glad to see that blizzard is talking about fixing roadhogâs hook. turns out iâm not the only one to get yanked through a wall or a floor when speeding around a corner or down some stairs or otherwise out of roadhogâs actual sight, and the reason for this is pretty simple: the hook isnât hitscan, itâs actually a spherical hitbox that shoots out and checks to see if it hits anything. if it does, youâre caught, and can therefore even be pulled through walls - likely due to latency? what theyâre talking about now is switching the âcheckâ to roadhog himself, so that if you are actually out of his line of sight and the hook catches you, it breaks off for that use and you get away.
also kinda hype about seeing terry fucking crews might be voicing doomfist?! POWERRRRRRRRRRRRR

https://selectbutton.net/t/worst-images-iii-third-strike?source_topic_id=1573oh hey Iâm subscribed to the worst images thread and apparently linking to it is enough for me to get a notification
glad i got to see this
just kidding
i keep wondering if itâs worth it to work in games when so much of the audience is sack-of-shit gameragoblins running around giving anime avatars a bad name
like is it really gonna be less soul-crushing than an office job, at that point
on the one hand, if you make interesting small stuff you are cultivating an audience of people who like weird neat things. Youâre speaking directly to people who like you.
on the other hand, social media makes you a target for people who donât care about you to reach out and try to set you on fire.
Personally, I find grinding obscurity more soul-crushing, but Iâm a degree of separation from the worst of GG. But itâs nasty when you release your trailer and can estimate out your final sales and you still have a year and a half of work to release your money-losing game.
i feel like the overall vibe around overwatch itself is still one of positivity, and i like that. but, you know, so many gamers are repulsive people, and⊠yeah, i can only imagine one has to be able to filter that stuff out and view it as noise. maybe on the best days one feels like theyâre actually doing some good in the world, working on a vibrant and inclusive entertainment product that drives the loli avatar bigot pisslords to conniptions.
