I think you have to do some pretty intense gymnastics to say that TF2 is gorgeous and Overwatch is ugly.

but letās just all agree that this game really goes out of its way to make its sound design a crucial part of the competitive experience and thatās pretty cool
Thatās something I gotta see.
Yeah, itās a huge accomplishment on Blizzardās part that you can learn and recognize all of the important cues (multiple ones, across 21 different characters) in such a short period of time. Like, they must have tested that part to death to get it right.
I think the game looks fine (and I never, ever liked the way WoW looked), but I think the harshest criticism I could lob against the game is

I want to draw some connection or call out or something with the internet being against chix w dix and the emmergencs of trans voice and boy as a cismale am I unqualified for that.
Fair, but Itās just been really striking to see how many sexualized as women things iāve seen about the rest of the female cast of overwatch, and how comparatively few Iāve seen about Zarya. Thereās something strange there that I donāt know how best to explain, but itās definitely there. Granted, I havenāt gone out looking for this stuff, so it could balance out if I actually investigated it (ew) (the google image search referenced above was when i went looking for wallpapers because i felt like making my desktop themed around that pink hair color), but at least on the various gameblogs i sometimes check on, itās been pretty clearly tilted.
I once saw an impassioned plea to āboycottā zarya because she was pandering to feminists and the feminists took away our tracer ass so we should take away their zarya

I feel like if I told that person that maybe, in fact, it was tracer that was pandering to them that he may have actually had a heart attack

Whatās strange? Zarya doesnāt fit the socialized standard of beauty, the rest do. I mean itās about as explicable as anything could be.
Yeah, itās not really strange, I guess, just kinda sadly predictable. The jump then to her being male is maybe strange, but also pretty predictable as well.
