Blizzard DOTA

Slyv is easy, just play like a coward and poke away.

Real men go dagger build

best way to teamfight as sylv is to flank the skirmish, launch a wailing arrow when you’re sure the enemy team has committed fully, and then use the resulting chaos to unload all of your q charges with remorseless. they won’t expect sylvanas to do that kind of damage, and the silence removes the option for retreat

what’s really, really, really important as sylv is that you don’t die. yeah, i know, dying is bad in general, but the key with sylvanas is if you win the teamfight, and sylvanas is still alive, your push is orders of magnitude more dangerous with structures disabled, particularly on maps with a pushing mechanic like dragon shire, infernal shrines, and battlefield of eternity

here are two really solid builds, but there are other options. her talent tree is in a good spot, almost every option is viable.

it’s worth looking at will of the forsaken if you want to try mind control, as you can ensure a solid portion of your ult connects by using the unstoppable right being channeling

yeah I’ve been getting the hang of sylvanas now

I think one of the big things I had to get over was valuing split pushing way more than team fighting because sylvanas is so good at pressuring towers that that’s all i wanted to do with her

but when I focused on team fighting and pushing after or finding those really quick timings between skirmishes for grabbing camps or pushing down a tower it was way better

landing a good arrow is so fun omg

Edit: should say that a big part of it is because sylvanas got a huge revamp since when I played last so I didn’t realize that she could put out way more damage
it’s not like she couldn’t DPS before but with remorseless it’s way easier to contribute to fights now

I’m getting pretty skeptical that Blizz knows how to make assassins. At the very least, I don’t think they understand how easy teleports make assassins?

Tracer has low DPS, but that doesn’t really matter when she’s the safest character in the game. It’s absurd.

She’s a lot of fun, tho, and I’ve have a pretty good time imitating her accent over voice chat

tracer is really OP right now

a teleport and a reset make her really good against like 80% of the CC in the game

I mean I could have told them she was going to be OP the second they told me she had a dash with charges and ekko’s ult from league as a regular ability. then they’re like: what if she had several talents that gave her more dashes and a shorter CD on her recall? and I mean, this sounds ok I guess, but what if we also gave her her ult at level 1, because if we didn’t she might wait I just had an aneurysm

Tracer might be bad design for HotS but she’s incredibly faithful to how she plays in OW and pretty much the only thing separating the two interpretations is the whole pesky thing in OW where you have to aim

tracer just doesn’t feel very good to play against

unless the entire team blows all their CDs on her and is very coordinated, you’re pretty much accepting a dps in every team fight the whole game because of how quick she is

I’m sure it’s fine for the people playing her! but MAN I wish blizzard playtested better/noninternally because tracer is the exact reason why you do so

Spoilers for next week: she’s like that in Overwatch too, but there can be more than one of her as well

Team fights aren’t too much of a problem because her health is so low chaining any two stuns together will kill her. The problem is getting caught out at all. If you’re not a few steps from a gate or able to duel her you just die.

If it’s any consolation to non-Tracer owning people, Tracer mirror fights are easily the worst in the game.

I guess I only win when I play the lost vikings

tracer is stupidly broken. she needs substantial nerfs in order to make sense in the game. as of right now, she’s such a stark example of disrupting the entire paradigm of mobility in the game by design, which honestly seems like a mistake in a MOBA. that said, i have to hand it to blizzard for being willing to do it, either by courage or by naivetĂ©. it’s an interesting shake up. there simply are no extant counters to the degree of mobility tracer affords. what suffices for a reasonable match-up between other heroes constitutes a “hard counter” to tracer. heroes with strong ranged autos have been proposed as the strongest counter to tracer in the game as it currently exists. this is absurd. auto attacks kill all squishies. every assassin in the game is vulnerable to auto attacks. the fact of the matter is that strong ranged AA heroes are pretty much the only “counter” to tracer outside brightwing (arguments can be made for thrall, falstad, and kael’thas as well, but these heroes are also acknowledged to be three of the absolute strongest assassins in the game), and this is a massive issue. consider this: tracer’s health is nearly identical to that of valla’s. yet she does comparable sustain damage, reasonable burst, and her mobility exceeds that of valla’s by an exponential factor. this is madness. how did the hero conceivably release in this state? well, it actually makes sense when you consider blizz’s design ethos: design heroes that are fun and evocative of their lore first, and balance after. the hots devs have explicitly stated their preference for making fun, lore-expounding characters in contrast to reaching for specific mechanics per the design memes they could potentially bring to the game (li ming is probably a notable exception to this milieu). they couldn’t have hit the nail on the head harder with tracer. she’s a pristine example of a successfully designed character
 in a vacuum.

i’m very eager to see what direction blizzard will take with the inevitable nerfs. no other character in the game’s history has felt as futile to fight against.

I’m guessing her bomb becomes her E and rewind gets like 10 seconds on it’s cooldown.

Also, pretty much a complete talent rewrite? Level 7, 13, 16, and 20 are pretty hilarious auto-picks.

because she’s a promo before she’s a character.

Alternatively, her win rate is high, but not generally what I would consider the broken range? Maybe she just gets a health nerf and they call it good.

Li-Ming appeared in 100% of hero league games for a couple months.

gonna probably start getting back into this before
whats the status on barbarian lady from DIII, did they ever make her better/nerf her or what

who should I be looking forward to jumping back in with

Sonya is fun and good, and she has a couple different builds which is always a bonus. She’s one of my favorite characters!

Tracer should also telegraph where she’ll end up when she rewinds, I’m a bit shocked she doesn’t already.

sonya is good. she requires a decent understanding of the game, for sure, as she’s very all-in. she doesn’t have any escape aside from mystical spear at lvl 13, and she’s a very aggressive melee assassin (ignore her in-game label). the trick to using her as she’s currently balanced is to save your whirlwind in teamfights for moments when you know you’ll need to pass through enemy hitboxes (barring being able to finish kills with it or massively sustain if the enemy groups up for you to lifesteal from 2-5 people at once). she’s rather shit unless you can consistently land your spear as well, as it’s her only non-heroic CC, it’s also her sole initiation and biggest fury generation tool. missing your spear generally means standing around until it’s off cooldown. other than that, she’s an absolute blast to play. if she can get into the backline with berserker up and there’s not enough burst to chunk her down, she will absolutely mop up the enemy team. scary when used well.

not happy with the tracer nerfs. she’s still going to be stupidly OP, imo. they didn’t touch spacial echo. slipstream still gives 4s recall instead of 3s. the health nerf is nice. they actually buffed some stuff.

she’s still not going to have any counters, she still doesn’t have to pay attention to her blink charges, she still doesn’t have to pay attention to her recall point, and it still going to feel like tracer is playing single-player and everyone else is playing online multiplayer

i’ll eat my hat if she doesn’t require significant further nerfs
