what’s this about I’m curious
I can think of a few times when I saw a movie or listened to an album where I think, “wow they’re saying what I’m feeling” or there’s a nugget of advice that feels important to my exact situation. Chungking Express, L’atalante, and Jonathan Richman come to mind. But maybe it wasn’t about the specific things they were saying and more about a worldview that I sensed behind the voice, idk.
It’s very difficult to just point at something and know it’s going to connect with you at that level though.
fuuuuuuck, i spent 198 hours playing Death Stranding in less than a month
i’m sure quite a bit of that time was idle, but still ;_;
maybe it is an extension of that feeling of understanding someone, which they call now
instead of the somewhat already-good term ‘compassion’.
And I guess that this might be a mixture of confirmation bias (every day there’s something released which would fit 100% to your life and we are just not there to ever realize it, and when we come across sth which hits home to 80, maybe 90%, we may take it at face value and make it fit just because we are so moved by it) plus that feeling …
and my suspicion is that media that manages to tap into this feeling never really falls out of style with you, since you connected to it, so you gotta treasure it when it happens.
That’s what i do, at least.
also also if you are into literature:
City (from Alessandro Baricco) features an ensemble cast of oddballs that seem to resonate with the reader, and totally did so for me, up to the point where it felt like parting with friends when i finished this book. Maybe it was the spot i was in back then, maybe growing up at the same time, maybe coincidence — but it touched something in me, which is why i keep it in high regards even if it isn’t something special/of greater interest in literature.
for me then!
Looking to be done with my PS4 backlog next year, and the PS+ games specifically by end of Q1, which I’ll probably accomplish by playing approximately 40 minutes of each
I’ve been having a great time with UFO 50 and I was inspired by that collection to curate 50 PlayStation games that also fit within my limitation of 183 hours of playtime per year. I’m looking at the list and thinking, yeah I wanna play some games now.

It really made it a fun list to think about. I keep thinking, “I could just fire up one of these bad boys right now.”

good list, but someone
pardon, Mdm Bonne wants to wish you a bonne anne (i regret nothing ) and kindly requests a place on that list.
(and i would give R•TYPE DELTA a spin, that has aged better than i would have thought, and feels different when compared to Gradius or Einhander on that well curated list.
Also, internal section

I haven’t played about half of these either! I wonder what kind of year you could have with the Super Famicom if you took out the 1/5 and 2/5 games from my list and replaced them with something good…
Replacing Super Metroid with a romhack like Tour of Italy, Super Junkoid, or that really well regarded one I can’t remember the name of right this second.
rudie might not get anything out of it but Uniracers/Unirally is excellent
UNIRACERS IS SO GOOD I basically play it any time @Infernarl busts it out therss something so satisfying about doing tiny tricks to go faster, and the way the track is color coded to tell you when to jump or not do a trick is really helpful
