For awhile there in the 90’s this little nerd was on like every single talent contest and variety show singing “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and I just hated his twerpy little guts. He wasn’t even that good!
Years later when NiGHTs came out it had some kid vocal theme in it and I was like ‘holy shit did they get that Yankee Doodle kid for this’. I was convinced it had to be the same singer. But now I realize that’s probably unlikely cuz NiGHTs came out like 5 years after this dork’s heyday. He probably went through puberty by then. It was probably some other warbly Star Search wannabe! Why was I so fixated on that kid? Why did I hate him so much? Why was I exposed to so much loathsome pop culture trash and why is it so hard to purge it from my mind all these years later?
Anyway we’re celebrating the 9th of July by watching an anime about the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics starring a bald eagle.
