ANIMAL HARVEST

All I’ve got time for today is my daily “find the message in a bottle, dig up four fossils, buy a bunch of shit, then maybe sneak in a horror reference into one of 'em.”

The most lucrative 15 minutes of any day for me is going fishing after the store closes, i.e. after 10 PM. First thing I do is pick up all of the conch-looking-shells from the beach and drop those in the dropbox. Then, if I fill up my inventory with fish and hermit crabs, I can get 20-30K to sell the next day. I just walk up and down the beach, catching all the crabs (usually 5 or 6, should be every conch shell you find since you picked up the other ones) and fishing. I usually catch a couple of Barred Knifejaws, Football Fish, and the other day I found two (2) Oarfish, which sell for like 9K a piece.

If you really want to fill up the ol’ inventory with stuff, drop all the Sea Bass and Horse Mackerel and other trash fish into the dropbox, and keep fishing. That way you don’t lose the 20% for the valuable fish and can just pack maximum value into a single inventory.

i didn’t get bedhead and im pissed. im wondering if its because i have a hat on or if its because i stopped playing at 9pm 7 days ago and started the game at 2pm today

either way me and animal crossing are fighting now

edit the reason i didnt get bedhead is because you have to wait a month for it instead of a week now. hmph.

trauma introspection

im going through a lot of emotional shit that i dont want to admit every time i turn on this game. like new leaf was a town with me and my abuser and it was the only positive part of our relationship (and even then shed yell at me for doing stuff wrong in game, or like work kink into my playtime, which was my ME TIME) im really worried that i wont be able to seperate playing from constant reminders of her and im actually tearing up because i just want to play my favorite game

but GOD every time i see or hear anything in new horizons it pulls me back to new leaf which pulls me back to an abusive relationship, which makes me want to turn the game off immediately. the sound and visual design is too strong

im enjoying everyone’s posts and dont have any FOMO, just a small sadness about how tainted this experience has been. i didn’t know that hearing fucking animalese again was gonna make me relive goddamn sexual trauma but here we are.

Bold of you to assume I do anything with bass other than throw them back to the brackish waters from whence they came

I like that you don’t have to sweat money in this game, you don’t need to do anything but have a nice time and bells just end up in your pocket. Though I AM henceforth saving my bells (which for me just means not putting money towards loan because I will never stop shopping, Always Be Shopping) on Fridays and Saturdays for STONKS on Sundays

I get my student stipend check from the state in the mail soon, and this is the first thing I’m going to be irresponsibly blowing my money on. How excited should I be.

If you’re like me and have played all the Animal Crossing games since you were a child…

…extremely

I only played the first one but I adored it, so this is a bit of a homecoming to me.

well then you’ll be extremely excited to know a few things you’ll find out super quickly (no real spoilers):

  1. You can move trees now
  2. You can identify multiple fossils at once
  3. Tons of items stack in your inventory that used to each take up a slot, specifically seashells
  4. Lots of iterative quality of life things that you’re going to experience as a huge leap.

If you strongly care about filling out your catalog/completing the museum, I’d focus on trying to catch sturgeonfish (in the mouth of the river) and stringfish (in the river above sea level), neither of which are available starting April 1 in the northern hemisphere. You’ll have big crafting goals after finishing the shop as well since you need to build furniture for three houses.

i will never catch a stringfish

It’s literally been so long since I played one of these that I forgot what I liked about them.

What are the odds I would still like it

I bounced off of New Leaf after like a week or two. I’m enjoying this one a lot more, and I don’t feel like I’ll be stopping so soon. There is a lot more room for creativity in this one.

DECORATING MY NEW 2-ROOM

I free-handed this in like … 15 minutes? It’s the cover to Whatever I Say is Royal Ocean, the frankly subpar debut EP of Dance Gavin Dance, post-hardcore band whomst I adore. I wanna do a bunch of albums and I refuse to use that online converter thingy I think its fun to do it on my own freeballing

TOURING MY NEW BEDROOM

I made the bedsheets and I’m very proud of them! Also I have since fully redecorated this room, or rather re-arranged it. This one got almost an almost 40k score from HHA and I don’t know what the fuck that means
