analog life - thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of

My whole approach to the car hobby has been analog. If i drive without my phone theres no computers within at least the bubble of the automobile. Possibly no computers for many miles.

Here is my notes / journal for car work

I also have a whole collection of technical drawing done on cardboard that I dont have access to atm. I dont have a burn down list going at the moment but i used to have a whole wall of them also on cardboard scrap.

My main manual has a lot of character

Each page is staind with task specific dirt, dust, grime or oil. Only the wiring pages remain clean.

In a similar but duller vein, I bought a 2007 Camry this week. It’s in pretty nice shape. The interior is maybe 90%. I really hate seeing phone mounts and aftermarket carplay units and chargers and whatnot plugged in to older cars so I’ve decided to go a little austere with it and avoid all that stuff. Not even an aux to usb-c cable, nothing in the cigarette lighter. At this point i didn’t expect to find a car i feel like taking care of, but now i’m all finish that thing, there’s no eating in the car.
