Red, Green, Yellow, Blue. It’s been vibrant primary colors from the start. If anything, the first 18 episodes of the anime looked more desaturated/pastel than the manga.
its 2016 and people are still making jokes about needing a penis to join a boys only club in videos or talks about gender thus acting like trans people don’t exist
like im not gonna go on about it but it’s just frustrating at this point how this seems to happen every time
also he could have just talked about how unfortunately gendered toy marketing is instead and maybe mention video games on the side, i feel? idk, i realize that you can only fit so much in such a short time but this video feels like nothing
ranma was a boy who could transform into a girl and back again. the draw for ( straight ; i’m assuming here ; gender roles / appeal / etc ) men could have just as easily been ’ ayyy lmao, what if i was a dude but a spell gave me big ass titties, prob be attracted to myself n shit '. the same could be said about women in the reverse.
speaking in really general terms, with anime, i think fighting and romance genres tend to reach a broader demographic because it’s probably less alienating than sugary sweet magical girls or hulking giant robots.
i could probably go on forever about how anime has been a decent source of affirmation for plenty of gnc / gq / and trans people even from shows that adhere to strict gender roles and expression but i’m trying not to derail.
at this point, seeing how cringeworthy most talks about gender are, i’m honestly starting to appreciate falling in between the cracks. the media failed binary men and women so i don’t have any hope whatsoever that they’ll manage to get it right for the rest of us.
i appreciate your spirit though. it’s nice to see someone else get worked up about how shallow these kinds of talks wind up being. not to say that they have no merit, but, i feel like those of us that know that women are humans with varied interests and tastes could just maybe start ignoring those who refuse to accept it.
the constant explanation is stalling growth for everyone else.
women play, enjoy, and create games.
we know.
now what?
