Titanfall had a vulnerability that allowed a single person to DDoS every match on PC. A group of players had been lobbying Respawn to fix it. Then there was a vulnerability discovered in Titanfall 2 along the same lines and Respawn did issue some fixes.

It gets embarassing when a group (not necessarily the same group, but possibly) exploited a vulnerability in Apex Legends to post a notice in-game directing players to a website about the Titanfall fixes.

Now it looks a group has exploited some of the party netcode to send payloads to clients on all platforms.

As with most sophisticated hacking, certain attribution is nearly impossible so it’s hard to say these are the same actors but the appearance of “gamers destroy online infrastructure of game they allegedly like” is so ridiculous I’m just
