yeah they were definitely using the old forums’ archive to research, they pinged me about it when they went down briefly when I fucked with the DNS for our april fool’s bit to inquire as to whether I had done it on purpose
she dmed me about this before making it ahhaha, she wanted access to the sb1 thread that went down because of april fools shenanigans
like she had access to it before but couldn’t get to it on April fools and was asking me if the site was down and then we talked for a bit because i had heard of her channel already
ah okay. i am really skeptical of those kinds of channels because of the obvious ethical issues involved, though i am watching this video and it seems like a pretty even overview right now
okay! i will give this person’s channel more of a chance. lol. there are just a lot of sleazeballs out there so i tend to assume that by default.
you’re absolutely right a lot of people want to bully for clout but i think there’s a lot of us just genuinely curious about the genuinely weird
the stuff about phil fish seems off, but i have personal stakes in that
Dang I feel real gross about this if someone was a weirdo 15 years ago they should be allowed to be forgotten. The ever present information of the internet is a curse.
Now on the side the archive should be deleted.
i mean, i think archives should exist. but this is my problem with youtube channels and other things that use them as fuel for content, and remove stuff from its context in order to build up more exciting narratives about people who just also happen to be real people and maybe never thought something like this would happen to them. feels parasitic i guess. esp when you go into like all the ChrisChan stuff which is just kind of a disgusting compulsive fixation some people have on feeling better than someone else out there.
As someone that went through the SB1 archive a few times recently nothing so important that is also worth preserving the overwhelming load of crap and horribly dated beliefs.
to me beyond the whole thing of it being embarrassing to particular people, it does provide a good capture image of a moment in time, which i think is important. if for no other reason than to prevent people from idealizing “the good old days” too much when the old days are right in their face, and they certainly are not good
yeah, I think it’s mostly crap which is why I’m committed to keeping it up, albeit obscurely
it is endlessly amusing for me to see select button posts referenced as representatives of general popular opinion
one day they will return for felix’s inti creates takes balan wonderworld
I fear the child who owns one game and that game is Balan Wonderworld.
Imagine their confusion at control schemes where buttons do different things.
i am 100% excited for the game the balan child will make in 15-20 years
I’ll certainly support them
Looks like I made it…
